Let's go to Buffalo where the Blizzard and the Bombshells kicked off their opening night with fireworks. The home team broke out to a 24-3 lead at the end of the 1st have behind the arm of Cassidy Carter. 3 TD, including 2 to Linda Simpson, made most think that this would be a cakewalk. but then the Bombshells woke up and controlled the 3rd quarter. The ball control offense limited the Blizzard's chances on offense and after the 2nd of 2 Molly Cyrus Touchdown Runs, it was all tied at 24 with 14 minutes to go in the game. Then out came Carter once again, and Cassidy took control. Quick passing and a TD to Linda Simpson for her 3 of the game, made it 31-24, then a quick 3 and out by the Blizzard D and Cassidy closed out the game with another quick TD, hitting Irene Holmvick for a 6 yard TD and that was the final score. A 38-24 for Buffalo and Cassidy Carter was the Offense Player of the Game with 27 of 36 for 361 yards, 5 TD's. and a near perfect QB rating. Buffalo goes on the road to take on Philly while Baltimore heads home to host the Tampa Baes.
3024 - OT
Speaking of the Baes, they hosted the Atlanta Assassins and it was a tale of two halves as Atlanta took the Opening kickoff and scored in 11 plays with a Traci Anderson pass to Nari Chang. A trade of Touchdowns in the 2nd quarter then the Assassins closed out the 1st half with a 21 yard Mel Bradshaw Field Goal to go into the locker room up 17-7. In the 2nd half, it was all Tampa. Baes Quarterback Missy Danger kept her team in the game, throwing 55 passes and hitting 9 different receivers, including Jessie Malkova for 2 Touchdowns to get the score down to a 24-21 lead for Atlanta. A trade of punts left Atlanta deep in their own territory and the Bae D held, forcing a punt from the Atlanta 13. Danger with two keys passes, got the Baes down to the Atlanta 31 with 11 seconds and 1 time out. Tampa then called on Christy Rae, who calmly knocked down a 48 yard field goal to send the game into Overtime. Tampa won the coin toss and Atlanta never saw the ball again. Missy Danger lead a 14 play, 94 yard drive, with a 3 yard pass to Jessie Malkova for her third touchdown of the game, sending the crowd home happy after a 30-24 come from behind victory. Tampa goes to 1-0 and heads to Baltimore, while Atlanta drops their first and heads to New Orleans.

The Angels went on the road to Miami as the Midnight hosted the X Gold Division tilt and the glaring stat was Time of Possession. The Angels went into a very methodical offense led by Alex Ripper, who mixed up the run and pass. Despite that, the Midnight came back with some quick strikes and knotted up the score at 10-10 at the half. The two teams continued to slug it out, each holding the other to multiple punts until the Angels finally got a chip shot field goal to take the lead at 13-10. A timely sack by Megan Kingston brought new life to the Midnight who had the ball after an Angels punt went into the endzone with less than 4 minutes to go. The Midnight made it up to their own 45 but ended up running out of time as the Angels survived to win 13-10. The Angels held the ball for 39 of 60 minutes, limiting the Midnight's possessions, and in turn, gave themselves a 3 point victory. New Orleans hosts Atlanta next week as Miami heads to LA to take on the defending champion Blackout.

Opening night on Thursday was a rematch of the Wondercup from last year and..... it was a rematch in name only. The Blackout were on top of their game and KDB was LIT. Blackout Quarterback Keegan Davis-Brown showed no rust from the offseason with the Fast Break Offense that LA made famous last year. 2 quick touchdowns made it 14-0 quickly but New York came back with a slow down offense, trying to limit KDB, to get close at 14-10 at the half. But KDB started the offense back up including 2 touchdown passes to Ashley Borden then the Blackout Offense kept pouring it on, ending up with a 42-16 victory over the Firebirds. KDB ended up 28 of 45 with 372 yards and 5 touchdown passes on the day. The Blackout host Miami next week while the Firebirds head back east to play visitors to the Black Mambas of Boston.

The Black Mambas played host to the Bellas of Philadelphia and the Bellas started off with a quick 10-0 lead before Boston got on the board at the end of the 1st to make it 10-7. The Bella offense started taking off as Heidi Wu and Ariel Shadows began to dissect the secondary of Boston. The accurate Tammy Birtles went 22 of 30 on the day with 13 of those going to Wu and Shadows, including a Touchdown by each, the final score being a 3 yard TD in the fourth to solidify the lead. A late Chelsea Ray field goal iced the game and gave the Bellas their first win of the season. Philly heads home to host the Blizzard while Boston stays at home to take on the New York Firebirds.

Milwaukee then went into ball control with 7 minutes to go in the game and shut down the Beast with a 34 yard London Blaque touchdown run, who finished with 245 Total yards and 2 TD's. And the final game of the week, was the Cowgirls of San Antonio heading to the Pacific Northwest to take on the Portland Pinnacle.
